VKLA CHANGES IN THE ACADEMY’S PROFESSIONAL STAFF

The beginning of a new season regularly brings along with it changes to the make-up of the Academy’s professional staff. One of these innovations – one that is unique perhaps even in Hungary – is the establishment of a position where the primary role will be to coordinate between the youth football age groups and the adult team. Already in the past, a number of talented players have come through the ranks with Miklós Vancsa’s guidance, to whom Vasas FC football owes a great deal. Under the framework of the new club model, the opportunity will be there for Vasas Kubala Academy’s youth footballers for even better integration into the A-squad. As Flow Coordinator, Miklós Vancsa’s role will be crucial in terms of ensuring that as many Academy graduates become members of Vasas FC’s adult team over the coming years as possible.

Vasas Kubala Academy’s newly anointed Sports Director, Csaba Tóth is an expert in the field with a UEFA PRO certificate. In addition to being a former footballer himself, he also has Communications and Coaching diplomas from the University of Physical Education. Starting with the 2018/19 season, Csaba Tóth’s tasks will include – among others – the direction of the entire professional staff – naturally, with active participation in the work of the different age groups, monitoring and aiding the development of youth footballers.
One of the most important changes in personnel took place at the helm of the U17 age group that played such a significant role in the season before, with László Komódi becoming Head Coach for 2018/19. He is a nationally and internationally renowned professional who is a returnee to the Academy, having previously worked in youth football in Angyalföld between 2010 and 2016. László Komódi initially made his name as a footballer playing among others at MTK, Kispest-Honvéd and Vasas, but he is also regarded as an internationally successful player due to his stint in Israel. Vasas Kubala Academy’s old/new Head Coach was plying his trade at Újpest over the past two seasons, but starting this summer, he will once again be training the red-blue U17’s.

Vasas Kubala Academy’s U16 age group has kicked off the 2018/19 season under the direction of Head Coach Zoltán Szekeres. The professional staff’s newest member arrived in the summer along with his UEFA A Licence papers, which he acquired after having come through the ranks at Zalaegerszeg, making it all the way to ZTE’s first team. He also spent a season playing at Hévíz, then in Austria. He then stopped playing professionally due to medical reasons, but the feeling always remained that football would have to play a role in his life. After laying the foundations for his coaching career, Zoltán Szekeres first made his mark at Lenti, from where he moved after two and a half years to Vasas Kubala Academy’s base on Pasaréti Avenue.  In the meantime, he was operating a football industry website, while also finding the time to lead PMFC’s U18 age group, and gaining insight into the life of Illés Academy. Most recently, he was working in youth football at Újpest. As a returnee to the Academy, the vision he brings to the table a clear and determined vision.

László Répási had previously trained our pupils for years, and the strength training specialist blessed with outstanding teaching skills will once again don a red-blue kit starting this summer. To gain a grasp of his professional history, it is important to know that he signed his first pro contract at the age of 17 with Ferencváros, going on to win the league with Vác in 1992-93. He then went on to become top scorer of the league, which earned him an invitation to the National Team. He made his mark internationally in Portuguese, Malaysian and also Austrian football, resulting in the fact that as a former player, he is able to study potential methods of development from several different points of view. He joined the domestic coaching ranks after hanging up his boots, acquiring the UEFA A Licence in 2000. Over the years, he has put in the time and effort to study not only what is required for strength and conditioning in general, but also what is required to make him one of the leading experts on the subject in the entire country.

Starting with the 2018/19 season, József Lippai will lead the Academy’s goalkeeper training program. His tasks will include the direction of the goalkeeping sector, professional development of the area in line with the Academy’s principles, laying the foundation for establishing movement between the youth age groups and the adult team, as well as ensuring the opportunity for constant flow towards the Vasas FC squad. Already as a youth player, the new member of our professional staff got a glimpse of life at top flight clubs, and then was able to gain more and more experience throughout his career. The former goalkeeper who is a qualified UEFA goalkeeper coach played keeper professionally for clubs the likes of Újpest FC, BVSC, Budafok and III. ker. TVE, appearing in close to 500 matches in all.  In addition to football, he also got a taste of life in the world of futsal. In fact, he made it all the way to the Hungarian National Futsal Team squad. He has coached youth and adult teams at MTK and Győri ETO FCm then from 2004 he was working for the Hungarian Football Association, guiding the U15 and U21 sides, as well as the National Team, serving as goalkeeper coach in Erwin Koeman’s staff. As a teacher, he also played an active part in the education of Hungarian goalkeeper coaches. He has been a part of Vasas FC’s professioanal staff since 2016, serving as the A-team’s goalkeeper coach.

Besides counting as another returnee to Vasas Kubala Academy, Botond Máthé has worked as a Director of Physiotherapy at Slovakian club FC DAC 1904 and at Hungarian top-flight side Szombathelyi-Swietelsky Haladás VSE, while alsp managing the rehabilitation of the U21 Hungarian National Team. At youth level, he has also filled roles at Ferencvárosi Torna Clubnál and Budapest Honvéd Futball Club, as well as at the Hungarian Football Academy. His name is well-known to those working in rehabilitation in Hungary. In fact, he is internationally known, since he is a member of the University of Physical Education’s Centre for the Physiology of Endurance and Rehabilitation. In addition, he also has training in human kinesiology, so his area of expertise is quite wide as a sports therapist. Hi primary task will not be limited to rehabilitation, but as Director of this sector, there will also be heavy emphasis ont he prevention of injuries.

Szilárd Nagy’s credentials include a UEFA B Licence certificate, along with his physical educator-coach and physiotherapist diplomas from the University of Physical Education. In addition, he also boasts of experience with Coerver Intro and TRX coaching, not to mention his time at the Hungarian FA as a match and video analyst. As a footballer, ha has experience playing at the NB3 level. The highly trained professional has arrived to serve as Head Coach of the U12 age group.
